Our next Yoga for Beginners course starts with a free introduction class on Tuesday 16th April. The 12 week course dates are 23rd April – 9th July. Come! Be inspired and get to your mat before the summer! Our beginner course always starts full with a waiting list, so please do book your place sooner rather than later.

You’re in control of your health – and a regular yoga practice is proven to build strength, increase flexibility and relax your mind. Our beginners yoga course in York is the perfect place to start, whether you are a novice or returning after a break. We always have a teacher and assistant teacher in the room, so we can help everyone.

If you’ve been thinking about taking up yoga for a while, this is the time to sign up. Our 12-week beginners course will give you an introduction and step-by-step guide to this incredibly transformational form of fitness. Set a strong intention this spring time and sign up now.

Over the 12 weeks, you will learn:

the yoga fundamentals of breath, flow, posture & alignment
Sun salutations
why sun salutations are the ideal way to prepare your body for the day
Breath control
how to control your breath (pranayama) to energise your body & calm your mind
why moving through & honouring the seasons enhances your yoga practice
the endless benefits of incorporating mindfulness into your life
Shoulder Stand
how to perform a shoulder stand to improve circulation & prepare for holding your first inversion
relaxation techniques you can use on & off the mat
how to develop a personal practice that you can take anywhere

what you can expect…

Since 2007, our founder Lilley has offered a beginners yoga course. By listening to what our students want from their practice, it is now one of the most sought-after and complete beginners programmes in York.

We teach hatha yoga in our beginners classes. In your weekly session, you’ll enjoy flowing sequences that stretch and strengthen your body and mind.

costs and timings…

Our full beginners yoga course runs three times a year in the Spring, the Autumn and the New Year. Classes are on Tuesday evenings from 6.30 – 7.30 pm at our Woodthorpe Yoga Studio. Our next course starts with a free introduction to yoga class on Tuesday 16th April. Our Yoga for Beginners course dates are Tuesday 23rd April to Tuesday 9th July.

We’d encourage you to give it a proper shot and complete the full 12 weeks to truly feel all the benefits. If you sign up after the start date, you can still join and pay for the remainder of the programme. Please just come! Don’t wait. We have an assistant teacher in the room, so are always able to give you a warm welcome and the time and attention you need.

The course costs £120 and is an investment in your health. On top of your weekly beginners yoga class, you can access our live and pre-recorded online sessions at no extra cost to help you establish a daily practice.

Once you complete the programme, that is the perfect time to commit to membership. This will keep the momentum you’ve built going, so you stay on track and reach your goals. You can continue to progress with the beginners classes or move up to an improvers class. Your teacher will be there to guide you, so that your next step feels right for you.
