Invigorating for the mind and body, our intermediate yoga classes tend to be fast and strong. They give you a true full-body experience to get your blood pumping and circulation moving – giving your skin that radiant yoga glow! You’ll savour the feeling of a well-deserved relaxation (shavasana) at the end.

Our intermediate classes are known to be quite demanding. They’re perfect for you if you already have a fairly advanced yoga practice and enjoy the feeling of progressing towards deeper back bends and inversions. They are also a fantastic complement to other forms of exercise and sports, providing a welcome challenge if you have a high level of fitness.

Many students in the class are runners, climbers, dancers, crossfitters and triathletes. They tell us coming to Peacock Tree Yoga every week helps them reach new heights in their chosen sport or activity – and that it is the best part of their day. 

You’ll also appreciate the headspace you get from a yoga practice – increasing your productivity and saving you time. While some of our sessions focus on a hatha style of yoga, we weave elements of Vinyasa yoga into our intermediate classes. You’ll flow from one posture to another to elevate your heart rate, build muscles, strengthen joints and improve flexibility. If you’ve got a particular area you want to focus on, your yoga teacher will guide you to the best postures and modifications.

how to take your yoga practice to the next level

Our approach to yoga is unique; we move with the seasons. You’ll be in harmony with your natural rhythm, and reap the rewards of focusing on postures and mindfulness exercises that serve you best at each time of year. 

We also believe in honouring how you’re feeling each day. Check-in with yourself every time you arrive on the mat. Some weeks you’ll be able to take on more challenging postures, others you may relish in a gentler practice. Even our most advanced yoga students enjoy coming to one of our beginners classes.

We want you to succeed and continually develop. That’s why we offer a membership model. It is the only one of its kind in York. By committing to a weekly class, you’re committing to your fitness goals and to yourself. You’ll also become part of a vibrant community of yoga students and teachers who will support and inspire you as you progress.

Yoga can give you a stronger and more flexible body, reducing the risk of injury or helping you recover after a setback. It also quietens the mind, enhancing mental clarity, focus and concentration, so that you can achieve more. Whatever demands life places on you, you’ll be better equipped to deal with them after your intermediate class.

give a dynamic class a go…

dynamic yoga classes | Mondays 9.30 – 10.30am | Holgate Yoga Studio

If you fancy changing up the pace one week, try a dynamic class. They do what they say on the tin! These classes get you moving, with flowing sequences of a variety of postures that both stretch and strengthen muscles.

Synchronise your breath with each movement, expanding on the inhale and releasing on the exhale to work deeper into poses and enhance the meditative effects of the practice.

It’s a fairly challenging class, but there are always options for you to modify any postures that feel too intense that day.
